About the law firm and its philosophy

The Hoffmans partnership has been operating since 1987 specialising particularly in personal injury work of all kinds, but also practising in Probate, Inheritance Act, Criminal Injuries, Trusts, settlements and family law matters.

Our philosophy is first and foremost to provide excellent service for our clients and to provide to them the benefits of the 3 partners' combined experience of some 75 years in the law.

In the current social and financial climate, "justice" in the civil area is only readily available to the poor and the wealthy. It can be very risky, frightening and expensive goal for "Mr and Mrs Joe Average" to pursue.

Hoffmans cannot offer a guarantee of success in every claim. The "nature of the beast" in litigated matters, particularly those that go to trail, is that there are counter arguments; that is why there are trials. Obviously we try to settle cases where possible rather than going to trial, but sometimes trials are unavoidable.

Over the years, we have had disappointments with judgements following trial, but we have also had great successes. In the field of negotiated settlements we consistently achieve excellent results for our clients.

Hoffmans are a relatively small firm, there are only 3 partners currently. We believe however that our size enables us to give clients the degree of special personal attention which is more difficult in larger firms. We try to ensure that the solicitor who takes the initial instructions runs the whole case to settlement or judgment. We try to avoid cases being passed on from one lawyer to another. This is frustrating for a client and inefficient (and one of the reasons clients switch to Hoffmans from bigger firms).

In short, Hoffmans try to do the best possible job for each client. We work towards fair negotiated settlements if these can be achieved; we will share the risk on a no win no pay basis where appropriate; we strive to be personally involved, accessible, informed and efficient.
